Otis is a registered architect in Denmark and the UK with over five years professional experience working across Africa, Asia and Europe. He has a keen interest in research oriented practice and how the built environment can be designed to improve human and planetary health. He was recently employed by Ingvartsen Arkitekter, coordinating the design and construction of 110 prototype houses as part of the Star Homes Project; examining the potential of housing to improve family health in rural, Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to this, he has co-founded House 4 House, an award-winning sustainable construction toy, and ArchiShorts, which explores how short films can be used to share architectural ideas from around the world. He has also contributed to articles for a variety of academic journals including The Royal Society, Cities & Health and PLoSMED.
